5S Implementation Training

Is Your Workplace a Shed or a Supermarket?
Walk into most plants and ask an operator to find a specific tool. Watch how long it takes. If it’s more than 60 seconds, you’re not looking at a workplace — you’re looking at a shed. Somewhere in there is a supermarket trying to get out: clearly labeled, everything in its place, anyone can find anything without asking for help.
Most companies believe they’ve “done 5S.” They ran an event, took some before-and-after photos, and moved on. But 5S isn’t an event — it’s an operating discipline. Without a structured system behind it, it fades within months, and the plant slides right back into the shed.
That’s the gap our 5S Implementation Training Program closes.
What This Program Is About
This is a practical, hands-on program for operators, supervisors, and middle management, built around one question: is your 5S system creating time, or just creating paperwork?
Ask yourself honestly:
- Do your operators know the current 5S audit score — without being told?
- Has every item in your red-tag area been resolved or disposed of in the last 30 days?
- Does cleaning happen on a defined schedule, or only when someone notices a problem?
- Can a new operator locate any tool in under 60 seconds without asking for help?
- Do audit scores generate ownership actions, or just a report nobody reads?
If you answered no to three or more of those, your system is degrading faster than it’s being sustained. This program stops that cycle and builds the governance structure that keeps it from coming back.
Participants leave able to:
- Lead Sort events without external support, and certify others to do the same
- Design and run a red-tag system with named owners, deadlines, and escalation paths
- Build shadow boards and visual controls that communicate status without a supervisor standing over them
- Turn cleaning into inspection, catching defects before they become failures
- Diagnose 5S regression with a scoring system that flags decay before it’s visible
- Build a 30-day governance system that sustains itself
- Walk out with a 90-day roadmap that turns 5S from a program into an operating discipline
How We Do It
The program runs over 5 days, and it’s built to move participants from awareness to execution — not theory to more theory.
Day 1 starts with the business case and a live diagnosis of where the plant actually sits: shed or supermarket. Then straight into a live red-tag event, on the floor, on a real area.
Day 2 is Set in Order — redesigning the layout, building shadow boards, mapping contamination sources, and setting cleaning standards that hold up.
Day 3 moves into visual management: building the audit system, running a Gemba simulation, and drafting the first 30-day action plan.
Day 4 hands the reins over. Supervisors take the lead on the audit governance framework and SOP writing while we build the sustainment system around them — not for them.
Day 5 closes with full audit simulations, 30-day plan presentations, accountability partner commitments, and certification.
Why the Practical Exercises Matter
Half of this program — every single day — is hands-on implementation, not slides. That’s deliberate. A checklist doesn’t fix a shed floor; a red-tag event does. A lecture on visual controls doesn’t build ownership; building the shadow board yourself does.
We pick a real model area on Day 1 and work it for the full five days, so by the end, participants haven’t just learned a method — they’ve built and handed over a working system on their own floor, with their own team, using their own equipment. That’s the difference between a program that fades in three months and one that becomes how the plant runs.
Because most programs fail for the same predictable reasons: no defined model area, red tags with no owner, cleaning treated as housekeeping instead of inspection, audit scores that go nowhere. We built the structure specifically to close each of those gaps.
5S isn’t what you do when you have time. It’s what creates time.
